At least forty people are killed in the bomb attack, which police suspected as suicide car bombing and warned the hotel could collapse. The fire is still flaming in some parts of the hotel. They Shoot Horses in Rwanda!

Paris denounces Rwandan genocide claims and accuses Rwanda of "unacceptable accusations" after a report says France was actively involved in the 1994 genocide. An independent Rwandan commission has accused France, saying that Paris had been aware of the preparations for the genocide and the French troops had direct involvement in the killings when they trained the ethnic Hutu militia.

Paris has consistently rejected the claims and denied any responsibility for the genocide that left about 800.000 people dead.

A French foreign ministry spokesman said, "This report contains unacceptable accusations made against French political and military officials." Meanwhile, Rwandan Information Minister Louise Mushikiwabo said she hoped the French officials named would be indicted for war crimes. "The government has asked the courts to use this report. We hope that legal proceedings will follow," she is quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

They Shoot Horses in Pakistan!

At least 5 Pakistani troops and about 25 pro-Taliban militants have been killed in fierce clashes at a tribal area along side the Afghan border, officials say. The clashes took place in the Loi Sum area in Bajaur, which has seen missile attacks in the past.

BBC says this is the first time troops have fought militants there on the ground. Talks between Pakistan's new government and Taliban leaders broke down in June and security has deteriorated sharply in recent week along the frontier.

In other violence in the north-west, suspected militants burnt down a girls' college and a school in Swat district, police said. Pakistani officials say the fighting started after more than 200 troops moved to reoccupy a key border post abandoned several months ago following frequent Taliban attacks.

A missile strike targeted a house in the Pakistani tribal area of South Waziristan, near the borders with Afghanistan, left at least six people dead, official said.

The missile was fired from Afghanistan; reports say and hit a house next to a mosque in Azam Warsak village. It was not clear if Taleban militants or NATO-led forces fighting them have launched the missile, a Pakistani security official said.

Pakistan has protested against recent NATO strikes in which civilians were killed, BBC said. Local residents told a news agency that the missile struck a local tribesman’s house and suspected militants used to stay there. Other villagers said they heard jets coming from Afghanistan before the strike.

They Shoot Horses in Sudan!

Humanitarian aid agencies in the Sudanese Darfur erupted region claim that the African-UN mission in the region is failing to provide adequate protection to civilians. The Darfur Consortium, one of the main African relief and advocacy groups says in a new report the force is too small and it has inadequate fund.

The commander of the force in Darfur told the BBC that the report touched vital issues while the people expect too much to be done.

The joint African Union and the UN mission in Darfur (UNAMID) set up after the UN Security Council promised to protect some four million people caught up in the war between the Sudanese government and the rebels. However, Khartoum insisted that African should make up the bulk of the soldiers.

They Shoot Horses in Turkey!

Two bomb blasts in a residential area in Istanbul left at least 17 people dead and 150 wounded yesterday, the BBC said. The governor of the Turkish city calls the killings terror attacks.

The first bomb was planted in a rubbish bin in the Gungoren area. People gathered in the place before a second larger device detonated. While no group claimed responsibility, security services said the attack bore the hallmarks of Kurdish rebels. The attack came hours before the constitutional court began deliberating over whether to ban the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party).

The AK Party won a resounding victory in elections and forms the country's government just last year, but Turkey's secular elite accuses the party of seeking to impose an Islamic agenda, a charge it denies, the BBC said.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul said the attack on Istanbul showed "the ruthlessness of terrorism", while Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said such attacks only strengthened Turkey's determination in its fight against terrorism.

They Shoot Horses in Sudan!

Luis Moreno-Ocampo, prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has accused the leader of the dictatorial regime of Sudan, Omar al-Basher of crimes against humanity and war crimes in Darfur.

The UN estimates that 300,000 people have died as results of the conflict in Darfur since 2003, while more than two million people have fled their homes.

It seems that the ICC needs to lead deep investigations in the human rights abuses in Sudan since the coup of 1989. The crimes are not committed only in Darfur. Many Sudanese has faced torture in the Ghosts’ Houses in Khartoum following the first 3 years after the military coup.
